Rotating sessions and holding one exit address
Updated 2 min read
Residential and mobile proxies are coming soon and cannot be ordered yet. This article describes how their sessions work.
On residential and mobile, each new connection through the gateway can leave from a different exit address: a rotating session. ISP and datacenter proxies keep one fixed address for as long as you hold them.

Getting rotating connection strings
- Open the proxy's page. On the Generate proxy strings card, select Open generator.
- Choose a Quantity and copy or download the Formatted proxy list.
Each line uses the same gateway and credentials, and each connection can leave from a different address.
Sticky sessions
The dashboard generates rotating strings only; it gives no sticky session format. Do not reuse a session format copied from another provider. If a workflow needs one exit address to hold across requests on residential or mobile, write to support@proxyforge.io with the proxy ID before building on it.
Exit addresses change
The exit is a peer device that can drop off the network, so an exit address can change at any time. Build the client to start a task again from the beginning when its address changes.
Verify what you got
for i in 1 2 3; do curl -sS -x "http://USERNAME:PASSWORD@HOST:PORT" https://api.ipify.org; echo; done
Rotating should usually print different addresses. Many clients keep a connection open between requests, which returns the same address several times. Close connections between requests when you want a new address each time.
If the result does not match what you expect, send support@proxyforge.io the proxy ID and the addresses you saw, with the password removed from anything you paste.
